Averitt Express recently announced the retirement of Phil Pierce after a 40-year career with the company.

Averitt Express recently named Barry Blakely executive vice president and chief operating officer, and promoted Larry Mason to Blakely’s previous role of vice president of operations.

Averitt has been awarded the 2021 Clean Diesel Leadership Award and 2nd Place Safety Award for the company’s less-than-truckload (LTL) fleet from the Tennessee Trucking Association (TTA). Presented at the TTA 91st Annual Convention, the awards recognize the transportation and logistics service provider for its efforts in improving fuel conservation and sustainability within in its fleet, as well as the company’s safe driving record.

Transportation company Averitt Express recently marked the official date of its 50th year of service on Oct. 1, 2021. As the culmination of a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary, Averitt marked the special day with celebrations at its facilities across the country, including at its corporate headquarters in Cookeville, TN.

Averitt Express has been nationally recognized for the fourth time as a Military Friendly Company.

Averitt Express has been recognized as one of Redefining the Road’s 2021 Top Companies for Women to Work For in Transportation. Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT), annually highlights companies that are focused on employing women in the trucking industry.

Averitt Express has expanded its operations in Amarillo, TX with the addition of 25,000-sq.-ft of enclosed distribution and fulfillment space. The facility will be used to provide shippers access to inventory and freight staging space to help streamline delivery and distribution throughout the Texas Panhandle.
