Inbound Logistics, an industry trade publication, has named Averitt as a Green Supply Chain Partner for 2021.
The publication’s annual “G75” list recognizes carriers that have been judged on four benchmarks, which consist of measurable green results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvement, and industry recognition.
In terms of the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, Averitt continually seeks innovative solutions and technologies to reduce its carbon footprint within the supply chain. By investing in the industry’s most modern trucks and trailers, in conjunction with optimizing its fleet routing.
As a founding member of the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay® program in 2004, Averitt has made several measurable achievements that provide a positive impact for its customers, including:
- 38% reduction carbon dioxide emissions
- 88% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions
- 6.2 million gallons of diesel fuel saved
The company has also taken steps to provide its customers with access to sustainable shipping solutions, such as the Averitt Smart Crate. Launched in 2020, the Smart Crate is a reusable, modular crating platform that fuses technology with sustainability. In comparison to traditional wooden crates, the Smart Crate can reduce packaging costs up to 40% per shipment.
