Five Stars: The Customer Service Factor in Your Supply Chain
When it comes to shipment management, it’s easy to get caught up in discussions about transit times and capacity....
When you allow us to transport your freight, you’re trusting us with something that’s very important to you. That makes it important to us, too.
The security of your freight is something we take very seriously. Whether it’s moving across town, across the country or over the border, you can rest assured that we’re committed to security every step of the way, and that we’ll do everything within our power to make sure it gets to its destination.
At Averitt, we hire only the best of the best. Not only does that include drivers with impressive safety records, but all of our associates undergo an extensive criminal background check before joining our team. This helps us ensure that the people who are scheduling your transportation, loading your freight and moving your shipment can be trusted.
Our security team has many years of experience preventing, investigating and prosecuting theft. They work closely with local, state and federal law enforcement to help protect your freight, using best practices and progressive planning to prevent theft. Relying on backgrounds ranging from the United States military to private investigations, this team is dedicated to monitoring your shipment and ensuring that it makes its way from origin to destination safely and securely.
Our equipment is fitted with advanced satellite tracking technology that allows us to precisely pinpoint where it is at any time, whether it’s moving or stationary. For extremely sensitive shipments, we can even place tracking devices with the freight itself, adding another layer of defense to your valuable cargo.
Our service centers are secured with access-controlled gates, electric fences, high-quality lighting and guard stations, deterring unwanted “visitors” from getting near your freight. Even our own associates have to show their identification when passing the guard stations. Remote cameras provide another level of protection and are monitored by our security team.
We also conduct random after-hours safety audits at all of our facilities. The results of the multipoint checklist, as well as a count of the number of security locks and bolt seals in use for high-value freight stored on our trailers, are shared with our security team leadership. These audits help ensure our facilities are using our security countermeasures to prevent theft.
Our team has been certified in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Free and Secure Trade (FAST), and Partners in Protection (PIP) programs and is an approved Indirect Air Carrier (IAC) by the Transportation Security Administration. All of our associates are also required to be trained in our security plan every three years. The plan is designed to prevent equipment and hazardous cargo from being used as weapons in a terrorist act.
